If it works out well, and if there's enough interest, I might try to make it a bi-weekly event or something. Most people consider it to be an abomination. I'd really like to know how it's working for people. Last I tried there were no servers running. The editor is supposed to be the main tool the creators used for making the main quest, but I don't see how they did it.
I'm not even sure if I'll have internets where I'm going. Who's up for a run through Vormantown? I've managed to create my own servers but, with no one else playing, I've been forced to play them solo. That's how much I love this game. I've always been interested in seeing another game or even new mods based on the game, but I'm beginning to think that might never happen. It was difficult to connect, buggy, laggy, and not very well planned out. The best I've managed so far is a few crappy-looking villages populated by mutes.
I guess I meant this weekend. I've played around a bit with the world editor hoping to make my own modules, but it's really hard to use. The mods play pretty much like the main quest but the maps are smaller with no world travel. I've never been in a virtual world that I love as much as this one. I'd really like to try out some of the mods with other players.
Next weekend, the 10th, I'll be going to a family reunion. As far as how it works. If I want a sequel, I'll probably have to code the damn thing myself. At the time, online multiplayer was just starting to become a big thing. Main problem is that I'm not sure who I would have to talk to about getting the license or how much I'd have to pay.
I might pick that back up someday and just loosely base it on Arcanum. This video has been a long time coming since I've never been brave enough to make this video fearing that I wouldn't be able make enough justice to this old gem that is very important for me, but here we are! I could create my own very easily, but there was nobody to play with which made me very sad. I haven't had a chance to try this version yet, but I have tried the previous version with. I read a rumor that it was added simply because one of the producers demanded it. Welcome to my video about Arcanum one of my favorite games of all time! Sources and other useful links can be found below. World Editor is kind of a mess though, so not sure how long that might take.
If I knew, I'd probably dump life savings into the project. Maybe he thought it was trendy or something. So I've posted this here as well as in the hopes that some of you might be interested in a short revival of the game. If you do decide to try it next weekend, let me know how it goes for you. I'm looking forward to it but, like a lot of Arcanum projects over the years, work is kind of slow and I doubt we'll see a final release anytime soon. I've also played around a bit with making a pen and paper game, but I kinda gave up before it really got off the ground.
. I know that at least a few of you will have a copy ready to reinstall. There's also MatchMaster, which will let you create your own independent servers. . . .
